Chiropractic

Our Approach

Our Belfast based chiropractic office focuses, not just on relief of back pain, but on aligning your overall health and wellbeing.

In addition to chiropractic care, we offer physiotherapy and podiatry services. Our team of specialists work collaboratively, sharing their knowledge and expertise.  This ensures the best possible care is provided to each of our patients.

When to see a chiropractor

Care at our chiropractic office is open to all ages and abilities; even new born babies may benefit from an adjustment. Despite common perception, we may be able to help a wide range of conditions, not just neck and back pain. These can include headaches, shoulder problems, foot and ankle issues and many sports injuries. In many circumstances other members of our team may be better suited to looking after you and in such cases we can refer you to our physiotherapist or podiatrist to ensure you get the best results.

If a part of your spine or a joint is not moving normally, it will interfere with the communication path to the brain. This can cause a range of symptoms, most commonly pain or discomfort. Adjusting the spine or joint to its normal position will allow this communication to flow freely again. This reduces the symptoms and improves the health of your nervous system.

As David R. Moore explains in his book, The Chiropractic ReEvolution, “chiropractic is fundamental to health care, health from the inside out, because it goes to the core of body functioning – the nervous system”.

If you are unsure whether chiropractic can help, or if you need some guidance as to what type of treatment is best for you, please don’t hesitate to give us a call for further advice. Alternatively, if you are in the East Belfast area, feel free to drop in for a chat.

What to expect on arrival at Avalon chiropractic

Initial appointment

On your first visit to our practice, you will receive an initial consultation which lasts around 45 minutes. This includes a general discussion about your health and the reason you are seeking treatment. You will also receive a physical examination and posture photographs will be taken. If required, we can refer you for a digital x-ray.

Second appointment

The team will take time to assess your x-rays if they were required and, on your second visit, you will receive a detailed report. We will talk you through our findings and discuss your individually tailored care plan.

You will then begin your chiropractic treatment. This involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal adjustments to free joints in the spine (or other areas of the body) that are not moving as they should.

Throughout your care at Avalon, you will receive regular progress reports. We will also offer advice and exercises to help you maintain and improve your posture and nervous system health.
